About

Dara is currently finishing her last few semesters in the School of Informatics, at IUPUI, majoring in New Media. New media covers a broad range of disciplines. More specifically, she’s going to school to become a web developer. She’s a hybrid consisting of part graphic designer, part object oriented programmer, part robot. Ok, so she’s not part robot. But she will be graduating in the fall of 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Science in New Media Arts & Science from Indiana University, as well as two certificates: Business Foundations Certificate from Kelly School of Business from IU, and a Certificate in Computer Science from Purdue School of Science. Nifty, huh?

Right now she’s focusing on finishing up her last two semesters before her big project next fall (Capstone). She is freelancing and doing contract work for local business in the meantime. Although she’s not really looking for a full time position at the moment, she would love to land a job as a web developer for a large gaming company after graduation.

Growing up in Indianapolis, she’s seen her city grow and evolve, and she is growing and evolving along with it. Her total dream job would be working as a web developer for a major game company, since that’s the logical choice as she is quite the nerdy gamer. Ever since Final Fantasy on the NES, she’s been hopelessly bent upon saving imaginary heroes from their horrible fate that evil game designers and programmers have beset before them.

Even though gaming has been one of her major past times, she also loves camping, volunteering and trying to save the world one kitten at a time. She loves teaching others about web design and development, and will probably not shut up about it if you ask her. Oh, and don’t ask her about computer hardware. She can’t shut up about that either. It’s like guys talking about cars…

Her weaknesses are spelling, large crowds, shiny things, stray animals, and tea. Her strengths are her ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, not just in web development. If it makes noise and has flashy lights, she either has it or wants it. She has been known to work on very short deadlines and has the ability to troubleshoot in hot situations.
